About Us: Gandhi Educational Trust
Founded on June 2, 2010, in the heart of Katihar, Bihar, the Gandhi Educational Trust was established with a profound commitment: to be a catalyst for change in the lives of the most vulnerable. We believe that access to quality education, healthcare, and practical skills is not a privilege, but a fundamental right that empowers individuals, strengthens families, and builds a self-reliant nation from the grassroots up.

Our Journey: A Legacy of Empowerment
Our story began in Mongra Fatak, Dalan, Katihar, with a clear and urgent mission to serve the rural and neglected sections of our society. Registered under the Indian Trust Act-1882 and recognized by Niti Aayog (Unique ID: BR/2017/0154267), our journey has been one of relentless dedication and measurable impact. For over a decade, we have worked to dismantle the barriers of poverty and lack of opportunity, creating pathways to a life of dignity and purpose for thousands.
Our Guiding Principles
Our Vision: To foster a self-reliant and equitable society where every child, youth, woman, and senior citizen has access to quality education, healthcare, and the opportunity to thrive.
Our Mission: To empower rural communities by providing accessible primary education, professional healthcare training, and vocational skills that lead to sustainable employment and self-sufficiency. We are committed to bridging the gaps in opportunity and building a stronger, healthier nation.
Our Pillars of Impact
Our work is structured across three core pillars, each designed to address critical needs within our communities.
1. Healthcare Education: Training the Next Generation of Caregivers
Recognizing the critical shortage of skilled healthcare professionals in India, we established our flagship initiative, the Mother Teresa Nursing School, in 2011.
Empowering rural students to bridge India’s healthcare gap. A legacy of care since 2011.
Our nursing school provides a fully recognized Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery (ANM) course, approved by the Health Department of the Government of Bihar, the Indian Nursing Council (New Delhi), and the Bihar Nurses Registration Council (Patna). Since our first graduating class in 2016, we have successfully trained hundreds of students, with a remarkable 70% success rate for students from minority communities. With over 220 students trained and 80 more currently enrolled, we are actively creating a pipeline of skilled, compassionate nurses ready to serve the nation.
2. Skill Development & Livelihood: Building Skills for a Brighter Future
We believe that practical skills are the key to economic independence. Through strategic partnerships with government initiatives, we provide certified training that opens doors to meaningful employment.
Upskilling 1500+ rural students and professionals for career success.
Our key programs have included:
Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY) 2.0: In 2016-17, we were allotted a target to train 360 students in the vital Health Care Sector.
Sikho Aur Kamao Plan: In 2018-19, we partnered with the Ministry of Minority Affairs to deliver skill development programs that directly lead to employment.
These initiatives are designed for both rural youth seeking a career path and working professionals aiming to enhance their skills and advance their careers.
3. Community Welfare: Nurturing the Community at Every Stage of Life
Our commitment extends beyond the classroom to provide a holistic support system for the most vulnerable members of society.
Investing Lakhs Annually in Rural Welfare.
Our comprehensive welfare activities are the heart of our organization and include:
Free Education: Operating primary and matriculation schools for underprivileged children.
Child Care: Running orphanages that provide a safe and nurturing home for boys and girls.
Healthcare Access: Organizing free health centers and medical camps for the poor.
Senior Care: Providing a home and care for neglected senior citizens.
Women’s Empowerment: Making women self-sufficient through targeted skill training programs.
Support for Migrant Families: Establishing community hostels to care for children whose parents must migrate for work.
